We’ve done a lot of research and exploration to determine the best way to get around in Belize so you don’t have to. Here is our summary:

Belize City to the Cayes

Recommended Route: Belize Express Water Taxi - $18 USD to Caye Caulker and $28 USD to San Pedro. There are discounts when booking a round trip online. An airport shuttle can be purchased through the water taxi webpage at checkout as well.

Expensive / Unique Route: Sea plane flight - around $130+ round trip. Two main airlines: Tropic Air and Maya Island Air.

Belize City to San Ignacio

Local Public Bus: $5 USD ($10 BZD) per person; no air conditioning; Duration: 3-4 hours. Location on Google Maps.

Shuttle From Water Taxi: $15 USD ($30 BZD) per person; typically air conditioned; Duration: 2-3 hours. There are many shuttles available at the water taxi. However, to book ahead, you can make reservations with William’s Shuttle Belize.

Taxi: $90 - $100 USD total

Rental Car: We do not recommend renting car in Belize City.

Caye Caulker to/From San Pedro (Ambergris Caye)

Water Taxi: Belize Express Water Taxi - $18 one way.

Getting Around on Ambergris Caye

Golf Cart: rent a golf cart by the day to explore more desolate places on the island like secret beach. Otherwise walking is a great option for the majority of San Pedro. Golf cart rental options.

Getting Around on Caye Caulker

Walking: the island is very small. Your feet will do just fine.
